The importance of instruction in the world is secondary
only to the problems of hunger and health.
Instruction is a determining factor in preventing the degradation
of the social community, as well as a cardinal element in the preservation
of cultures.
The Butterfly Foundation,
in its “Écoles sans Frontières” section
takes on the planning, realization (turn-key), and execution of primary
schools, prevalently in the most disadvantaged areas of the world,
where the possibility of attending school is most often a rare privilege
granted based exclusively on economic and cultural reasons.
We intend to give the possibility of studying to children who otherwise
would not be able to access any sort of education, and we seek at
the same time to preserve languages and cultures in serious risk of
extinction.
Without going into the merits of ethical and political judgment, we
would like to give our own important contribution in order to save

develop a multicentric way of thought, conscious of the similarities
and diversities of man.

It is perhaps useless to underscore the importance of teaching and
education both as a means to raise consciousness and as a valid deterrent
to poverty, delinquency, and degradation. In this respect, it is our
opinion that “oral” teaching and teaching based on experience
such as teaching the arts and trades, are also necessary.
The etymology of the term educate, from the Latin
for e-ducere, is based on the concept of leading someone, in particular,
but not limited to youth, to develop intellectual and moral capabilities,
while the word ‘instruct’, in fact, means to build.
The philosophy of “écoles sans frontières“
is therefore intended to enlighten as many children as possible, in
order to help them build a road, giving them the concrete possibility
to live... |
