Tibet is by now a forgotten tragedy
which began in 1949, when the then newly born People’s Republic
of China invaded the “Roof of the World” proclaiming the
liberation of the Tibetan people.
What happened from that moment has been a real and true tragedy that
has led to the death of more than two million Tibetans out of a total
of approximately seven million.
The Tibetan language, religion, history, and culture are denied.
Even the natural environment has been devastated and immense deforestation
is provoking more frequent floods. And last but not least, the transfer
of ever growing Chinese colonies in Tibet has made Tibetans a minority
in their own land.
For all of these reasons, many Tibetans prefer to confront the risks
of exile rather than live as slaves in their own homes.
And it is precisely the children who live in the difficult conditions
of exile to whom we would like to give an opportunity: the opportunity
of survival and to be able to study their own language and culture.
Adopting a Tibetan child means giving him the chance to keep his language,
traditions, and culture alive that are now risking extinction.
We do have presently two options of cost for the distance adoptions
of Tibetan children.
The first "standard" one, related to schooling, nourishment,
medical care, clothing and assistance of a child living within his
own family, is equal to Euro 200,00 a year.
The second one, related to these orphan children lodged at Tashi Boarding
School , after three weeks march across the mountains from Kailash
region, is equal to Euro 380,00 Euro 380,00 a year.
The school is presently providing full board to one hundred eight
children. |
