Colombia
Colombia is a huge Country of South America, three time as big as Italy, with a population exceeding 48 million inhabitants living in the major cities such as Calì, Bogotà, Barranquilla and  Medellin; the latter with a population of five million inhabitants where children  below five years of age represent the 11%.
 
In Colombia the main cause of death among children, during the first years of their life, is UNDERFEEDING.
 
Children between one and fours years old  mortality rate is six over one thousand while the underfeeded children aging  five to twelve,  represent the 35% over a total value of 57% starvation rate of the local population. 
 
The present  program of distance adoptions foresees a cost of euro 200,00/ year in order to give a child a chance to  receive a basic instruction and medical care as well as a proper daily nourishment.
 
This project is under the control of the International Cooperation Agency of Medellin, represented by Mr. Pablo Maturana Guzman and Mr. Luis Carlos Majia Ramirez. The program is managed in Italy by the  Butterfly Foundation onlus ( Forlì seat) in conjunction with Don Alvaro Cano,a missionary priest from Colombia living in our country since many years.
