In the frame of “ Make a loving gesture : give water ”, promoted by Arca S.p.a. through its 90 department stores A &O and Famila, spread over Emilia Romagna and Marche region, a water well has been opened in Meketa, Tigray region, in June 2012 in addition to the deep well implemented at Edaga Hamus primary school during the year 2011.
In October 1st 2012 a huge irrigation system has been opened at Endelgheda, consisting of 800 meters of canalization and dam , completing the projects foreseen in the running year. Such a project enabled the cultivation of several crops and vegetables in such a dry and difficult area.
In the year 2013 the funding of international cooperation projects promoted by Arca Spa. and implemented by Butterfly foundation has been extraordinary since the amount of 52.000 euro has been made available; on June 5th 2013 the well of Daulehaf in Tigray Region has been opened for 1.500 beneficiaries and a second irrigation system in Mayraza for over 4.000 beneficiaries has been completed and officially opened on February 15th 2014.
Projects funding has been very successful during the year 2014 as well, as the amount of 54.000 euro has been reached during the “donate water” promotion taking place in March, as usual, to celebrate the world water day. Such an amount has been used to build and furnish a primary school in Sebeya and a water well dedicated to the same , for a total of 430 students and 600 beneficiaries living in the area.
Thanks to the funds collected during fifth edition of ARCA promotion at the A&O and Famila department stores, launched in March 2015, the Butterfly foundation could build in Madagascar, a primary school at Ambatomainty, Malaki district, as well as 20 traditional water wells in the district of Tsiroanomandidy for a total number of 1.100 beneficiaries.
In November 2017 the Butterfly foundation officially opened six water wells that have been rehabilitated and renovated, being completely dry since a few years, in the region of Tigray, Ethiopia. The project secured clean water to some 3.000 beneficiaries.
