Awda water well

As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established between  Butterfly Charity Foundation and ADCS, (Catholic Association of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are presently under progress in the Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea. The above, following the recent severe drought, the worst since over the last 30 years.

Awda water well

As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established between  Butterfly Charity Foundation and ADCS, (Catholic Association of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are presently under progress in the Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea. The above, following the recent severe drought, the worst since over the last 30 years.

A water well, completely dry for a few years, has been rehabilitated in the village of AWDA, at Gentafesum district in Tigray region, Ethiopia and officially opened on April 24th 2017.

This project, funded by aunt  Amelia’s nephews provided the rehabilitation of a water well that was dry for many years. New extended pipes to reach an adequate depth, a  brand new pump, fencing of the well and training of the Water and Sanitation committee have been secured as well in accordance with running practice.

The beneficiaries of this new well are in the range of 300 individuals.
