As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership between the Butterfly Charity Foundation and the Catholic Association of Adigrat, a water well was inaugurated on June 20th 2015 in Bahira, Ganta-Afeshum province, located in the eastern part of Tigray region. The water well has been dedicated to Maria & Flaminio by Ivana and Franco.
The total population of this province is 111,043 inhabitants distributed in 19 zones.
People living in the intervention area are 8.870,00 in approx. 2000 households. The well is operated by a hand-pump and has been drilled at the depth of some 67 meters.
The number of beneficiaries is 300 plus all people living in the vicinity of the water well location. A WAT-SAN ( Water & Sanitation) committee has been established for the maintenance and operation of the well.
