The project, located in Tabia of Beleso, Saessie Tsaeda Emba district in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, has been established thanks to the support of the Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, a well-established partner of the Butterly Onlus Foundation.
The launch of the well, on the 20th June 2012, took place in the presence of the entire population of the village, mainly made up of women and children.
The well has been drilled to a depth of 74 metres and provides around 380 people with a supply of clean water.
The area is characterised by irregular rainfall, but the livelihood of the population in the area of the project is based chiefly on agricultural production and cattle breeding.
