As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established among Butterfly Charity Foundation, its technical local partner ECC-SDCOAd and the charity association Volontari l’Accoglienza based in Caselle (TO), one water well has been drilled at the village of BETMARIA, Genta Afesum district, Tigray Region.
The beneficiaries are exceeding 900 individuals since the well is located near an elementary school with 600 students to the ones to be added to the people living in the area.
A hand-operated pump and relevant piping have been installed in order to reach the depth of 63 metres, far below the aquifer level. Due fencing has been executed in accordance with the usual procedure and a Water & Sanitation committee established in accordance with the common practise in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation of the well.
The well funded in the memory of MARCO, by his wonderful parents, has officially been opened on June 5th 2018.
