In the frame of the existing cooperation established several years ago between the Adigrat Catholic Secretariat and Butterfly foundation, intended to secure potable water to the remote villages in rural areas of Tigray region, the rehabilitation of completely dry water well at Mahal Hawaria location, at the woreda di Tsaeda Emba, in Tigray Region has been completed.
The total number of beneficiaries is in the range of some 500 individuals not counting the people living in the nearby villages who will access the clean water as well.
A new pump and pipes have been installed in order to reach the required depth, below the aquifer level.
A Water & Sanitation committee has been established in accordance with the common practise in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation of the well.
The well has been funded by Mrs Eva Agostini and has been officially opened on 22 November 2016
