Omsamora water well

A water well, completely dry for several years, has been rehabilitated in the village of Omsamora, at Asmena district in Tigray region, Ethiopia. The project, funded through the funds received by Filippo Leandro Benvenuti bequest, has been officially opened on January 28th 2019.

Omsamora water well

As part of the “Donate Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established between Butterfly Charity Foundation and ECC-SDOAd-B, (Catholic Association of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are presently under progress in the Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea. The above, following the recent severe drought, the worst since over the last years.

A water well, completely dry for several years, has been rehabilitated in the village of Omsamora, at Asmena district in Tigray region, Ethiopia.

The project, funded through the funds received by Filippo Leandro Benvenuti bequest, has been officially opened on January 28th 2019 and includes new extended pipes to reach an adequate depth, a brand new, hand-operated pump, fencing and training of the Water and Sanitation Committee, in accordance with running practice.

The number of beneficiaries are in the range of 170 people. In addition to the above, 973 students of a school located a couple of miles away can benefit of such pure water. The people were previously drinking, together with their livestock, water highly contaminated by the presence of leeches.
