As part of the “Donate Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established among Butterfly Charity Foundation, its technical local partner ECC-SDCOAd and the charity association Volontari l’Accoglienza based in Caselle (TO), a water well has been drilled in the village of TSETSIHA, Sae-Tsaeda Emba district, Tigray Region.
The total number of beneficiaries is in the range of some 500 individuals not counting the people living in the nearby villages who will access the clean water as well.
A hand-operated pump and pipes have been installed in order to reach a depth of 63 metres, far below the aquifer level. Due fencing has been executed with the support of local labour, in accordance with the usual procedure and a Water & Sanitation committee has been established in accordance with the common practise in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation of the well.
The well, funded by Gianfranco Maffeo, through the Vo l’A association has been dedicated to his father Pietro; the official opening took place on June 8th 2018.
