In the frame of the “Donate the water” project established between Butterfly Foundation and A.D.C.S. ( (Adigrat Catholic Secretariat), on October 8th 2013 a water well has been opened in Wankabo village in Irob District, Tigray Region. Irob Woreda has located 150 km. north of Makalle town and has an extension of 850 square kilometres. The landscape is made of high mountains and deep valleys; the altitude is ranging between 900 meters above sea level up to 3.200 meters at Asimba mountain
The well, drilled at a depth of 70 meters and operated by a hand pump, has been financed by Anna and Roberto Tononi. The total number of beneficiaries of this well is 300 people approx. Several families living in the area will benefit from the opportunity to drink clean water as well.
A water and sanitation committee has been established for the management and operation of the well in accordance with the running procedures
