After a two-year war that killed 70,000 people and conditions of famine following a persistent drought in the area, the present situation in the Tigray Region continues to be dramatic. Women must walk several miles to fetch polluted water from the rivers or ponds.
The AKORA water well in the Tsaeda Emba district, which had been dry for over a year, was rehabilitated thirty meters from Akora school. This will guarantee a healthy water supply to 450 students and their families.
The project foresees installing new pipes to reach the latest water level and will provide a hand-operated pump and due fencing.
FORTI Srl, a company based in Atena Lucana, financed the well, which was opened on March 4, 2025.
