During our last trip to the Tigray Region, we were able to assess an extremely dire situation personally. We noticed very few animals along the roads and in the fields, due to their disappearance during wartime. Such a famine had not been known since 1985; we could visit schools without benches, which had been used by the displaced people as firewood or looted by the enemy. We received numerous requests for assistance, primarily to rehabilitate dry water points, which are a vital element of survival.
Among the listed priorities, the Zban Dega water well, which had been dry for over a year and is located in Tsaeda Emba Province, was opened on June 19, 2025.
Michele Petriccione dedicated the clean and potable water to the memory of his wife, Maria Grazia Forgetta, and his daughter, Gioia, who recently passed away.
The beneficiaries are 425 people.
