Following a two-year-long war in the Tigray Region, which produced several hundred thousand casualties and a severe drought, the local people are starving and in desperate need of water .
The Butterfly Foundation has been operating in this area of the world for over twenty years and continues to try to bring water to dry wells.
Thanks to the generosity of Mrs Marina Beltrametti, fresh, potable water will soon be made available at the water well in the compound of Tsehafi Wordi Primary School.
The well is dedicated to the memory of her son, Luca, who passed away some time ago, and the beneficiaries will be 726 students and their families.
The well will be operational in a month, while the official opening will be next spring.
