In July 2013, demolition and refurbishing work related to an existing building, located in Mekelle, Laici area, and dismissed by an English sisters congregation running a clinic, and to be used as K.G. classes dedicated to the poor children living in the area, have been initiated at the charge of the Butterfly Foundation and the Italian charity association Vo l’A ( Volontari l’Accoglienza) based in Caselle (TO).
The works have successfully been completed by June 2014 and the new kindergarten classes, managed by the sisters of St. Anne’s daughter’s Congregation, have been officially opened on January 30th 2015.
Over 130 children welcomed the project outcome with dances and songs in the presence of the Bishop of Tigray region, H.E. Abune Tesfaselassie.
