In the frame of the “Donate the water” project, implemented by Butterfly foundation, A.D.C.S. and Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, the water well of Maryam Debresina has been officially opened on June 16th 2015 in the district of Genta – Afeshum in Tigray region, thanks to the donation of Mrs Rita Maria Sciacca, who decided to dedicate this water well to the memory of her father Alfio.
The said well has been drilled at a depth of 62 meters, operated by a hand pump and duly fenced. Water & Sanitation committees have already been established in order to take care of the future management and operation of the wells.
The total number of beneficiaries of the project is 1.000 people.
