On 24th November 2010, thanks to the support of the Volontari l’Accoglienza Association, the Genhati well was inaugurated in front of the local population, in the district of Bukot, southeast Adigrat.
Around 82 families will benefit from this well, an approximate total of 410 people, in addition to 700 infants and children who attend the adjacent school. It is estimated that at least 200 of the beneficiaries are women, the elderly and babies.
The location where this well was drilled is particularly barren and difficult to access.
The population, who live on subsistence farming, were previously forced to walk many kilometres to reach water sources that were still unsanitary.”
