In the frame of the existing cooperation established several years ago between the Adigrat Catholic Secretariat and Butterfly foundation, intended to secure potable water to the remote villages in rural areas of the Tigray region, the rehabilitation of a completely dry water well has taken place in MAYDA, district of Wolwalo, Tsaeda Emba province, in Tigray Region.
The total number of beneficiaries is in the range of some 350 individuals plus 400 students of the nearby primary school.
A new pump and pipes have been installed in order to reach the depth of 53 metres, far below the aquifer. A Water & Sanitation committee has been established in accordance with the common practise in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation of the well.
The well, dedicated to grandfather Enrico by his grandchildren Giulio and Matilde, has been opened on March 15th 2016
