As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established among Butterfly Charity Foundation, ECC-SDCOAd and the charity association Volontari l’Accoglienza di Caselle (TO), a water well has been drilled at the village of MEKIDO, Saeda -Tsaemba province, Tigray Region.
The total number of beneficiaries are in the range of some 300 individuals not counting the people living in the nearby villages who will access clean water as well.
A hand-operated pump and pipes have been installed in order to reach a convenient depth of 64 metres, far below the aquifer level. Due fencing has been executed in accordance with the usual procedure and a Water & Sanitation Committee, established in order to guarantee the due maintenance and operation of the well.
The well has been funded by Mrs Anna Baldi, through the Vo l’A charity association, and opened on June 10th 2018.
