Thanks to 5 x 1000 tax returns related to the years 2008-2009 as well as to a donation from the ‘Flowers of Good’ foundation from Chieti, it was possible to completely renovate five rooms in the Guder orphanage run by the congregation of the ‘Daughters of St. Anna’ which looks after around 70 orphaned young girls.
Guder is around an hour and a half from Addis Abeba and thirty kilometres from Wenchy Crater, a place of extraordinary beauty. There are currently four double rooms and one single room with private amenities and running water.
The nuns also run a restaurant open to anyone who would like to devote some of their time and knowledge to these girls. It is definitely an experience that has a huge emotional and enriching impact on those who wish to help.
A laboratory for the production of local handicrafts has recently been implemented at the orphanage. The items manufactured by the girls will be sold to support the facility operation.
