Furnishing and renovation works of an existing building, used as a storage facility, have been completed in MOKONISSA, Wolayta Region, Ethiopia, with the aim of accommodating medical doctors willing to spend some time in the area, for training local staff and putting their professional capability at the service of the local population at Mokonissa Health Centre.
The same has been officially opened on June 8th 2013 and will be available to approx. 25.000 people living in an area where infant mortality is extremely high and HIV/AIDS, malaria, skin and eye diseases are very common.
The Butterfly Guesthouse is a one-story building with a large dining room, teaching & conference room, kitchen laundry and store, two double rooms and three single rooms each one with a private toilet facility.
The cost of the turnkey realization of the project, duly completed on the date of May 15th 2014 and funded by Butterfly foundation and the Salerno-Gonzato family, reached the amount of €. 80.000,00 .
We ask any and all, medical staff, willing to sponsor such a project at Mokonossa health centre through their volunteer professional contribution to contact our foundation at info@butterflyonlus.org in order to receive all information.
We ask doctors and medical staff willing to stay at the Butterfly guesthouse to offer the St. Anne’s daughter congregation, managing the facility, the amount of 300 ETB. /day to cover running expenses of lodging and food.
Butterfly foundation will cover the cost of return transportation from Addis Abeba airport to the destination.
