In the frame of the existing cooperation established several years ago between the Adigrat Catholic secretariat and Butterfly foundation, intended to secure potable water to the remote villages in rural areas of the Tigray region, the rehabilitation of a dry water well has taken place in the site of BAGOMILLA, Maevo district, in Tigray Region, Ethiopia.
The total number of beneficiaries is in the range of 650 individuals; many people living in nearby areas benefit from this new water point as well.
The works have included the supply and installation of a new pipe to reach the required depth, a new pump and fencing. The relevant Water & Sanitation committee has been nominated in accordance with the usual practice, in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation of the well. Funds for the implementation of this new project have already made available by the donor, Herrod Foundation, based in Montreux (Switzerland).
Bagomilla water well has officially been opened on November 22nd 2016 in the presence of several hundred people.
