On June 6th 2013 the water well at Bathaweriat school, located in the district of Sasun, Province of Genta -Afeshum, Tigray Region has been successfully inaugurated in front of a multitude of school children: 400 belonging to the primary school and 50 to the kindergarten and presently sheltered under a camp tent.
The total number of beneficiaries of this project are in the range of 750 people including local dwellers.
The well, duly fenced, operated by a hand pump and drilled at a depth of 65 meters, has been financially supported by the Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, based in Caselle (TO) Italy and is part of an extensive program of cooperation in place among Butterfly Foundation, ADCS and Volontari l’Accoglienza for water supply to Ethiopia.
One additional water well, to be operated by an electric pump, has been requested by the school authorities in order to be in a position to cultivate the extensive fields belonging to the school that could provide funds to upgrade the school structure
