In the frame of the “Donate the water”  scheme,  established between Butterfly Foundation and  A.D.C.S. ( (Adigrat Catholic Secretariat), on  October 9th  2013  a  water well has been opened in Bokalemako village in Irob  District, Tigray Region.

Bokalemaco water well

In the frame of the “Donate the water”  scheme,  established between Butterfly Foundation and  A.D.C.S. ( (Adigrat Catholic Secretariat), on  October 9th  2013  a  water well has been opened in Bokalemako village in Irob  District, Tigray Region.

Irob Woreda is  150 km. north of Makalle town and has an extension of 850 square kilometres. The landscape is made of high mountains and deep valleys; the altitude is ranging between 900 meters above sea level up to 3.200 meters at Asimba  mountain

The well, drilled at a depth of 45 meters  and  operated by a hand-operated pump, has been financed by the Italian Association Volontari l’Accoglienza based in Caselle (TO)

A water and sanitation committee has been  established for the management and operation of the well in accordance with the running procedures

The total number of beneficiaries of this well is  150 people approx.;  few hundred people living in the area will benefit from this clean water as well. “
