As part of the “Donate the Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established among Butterfly Charity Foundation, ADCS, the Catholic Association of Adigrat and the charity association Volontari l’Accoglienza di Caselle (TO), one water well has been drilled in the village of Dalawot, Woratle province, Tigray Region and officially opened on April 26th 2017.
The total number of beneficiaries are in the range of some 1.000 individuals taking into account the people living in the nearby villages who will access this clean water as well.
A hand-driven pump and pipes have been installed in order to reach a convenient depth, far below the aquifer level. A concrete fencing duly executed in accordance with the usual procedure. A Water & Sanitation committee has been established in order to guarantee the due maintenance and operation of the well.
Local people asked for further support in connection with the possible construction of two classrooms as their children are presently obliged to walk several hours to reach the closest school. The well has been funded by Daniela & Renato Collodoro, through Vo l’A charity association.
