As part of the “Donate Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established among Butterfly Charity Foundation and ADCS, (Catholic Secretariat of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are presently under progress in the Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea; the above, following to the recent severe drought, the worst since over 30 years.
The location of this specific intervention has been the village of MAKUMEL, district of Genta Afesum, Tigray region, where a well has been drilled at a depth of 68 meters and equipped with a new hand pump for easy maintenance purposes.
Fencing to protect the well from misuse and to regulate access to the same has been provided as well in accordance with the common practice, in order to guarantee due maintenance and operation. Beneficiaries of this clean water are estimated in the range of 300 people.
The well, dedicated to Dany, Daniela Colombo, who recently passed away, has been financed by Dany’s parents, Angelo & Ines, the brother Alberto and the husband Alberto has been officially opened on November 19th 2017.
