In the frame of the “Make a loving gesture: give the water” campaign, promoted for the third year by ARCA Group of Cesena, a new huge Irrigation system has been officially opened on February 15th 2014, in MAYRAZA, located at 2.400 meters altitude, 115 km. far from the capital city of Makalle and 35 km. from Adigrat in the Saeseae’Tsaedaemba district, Tigray Region, Ethiopia.
Beneficiaries of the project are 550 families equal to approx. 3.850 people.
Nine hundred meters of canalizations, water capture and distribution points, construction of water cisterns have been implemented during the six months of the project execution.
Training of the local communities for the best use of available water resources has been secured in the frame of the project responsibilities.
The regulated irrigation of a huge area will contribute during the wet season to a substantial increase in the population living in a specific area.
The technical execution of the project has been entrusted to the ADCS ( Catholic Secretariat of Adigrat) contracting company, having many years of experience in the specific water sector area of intervention.
