The project, located in Tabia of Hadish Hiwot, Saesie Tsaeda Emba district in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, has been established thanks to the support of the Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, a well-established partner of the Butterfly Onlus Foundation, and of Carlo and Anna Maria Graglia. The official opening of the well, on the 21st June 2012, took place in the presence of all the people of the village and of the neighbouring villages who can also access this well.
The well has been drilled to a depth of 70 metres and allows around 480 people to finally gain access to clean water. The area is characterised by irregular rainfalls but the livelihood of the population in the area of the project is based chiefly on agricultural production and cattle breeding.”
