In the frame of the existing cooperation established several years ago among Butterfly foundation, Vo l’A (Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza) and the ADCS, intended to secure potable water to the remote villages in rural areas of the Tigray region, on March 14th 2016 has been opened one water well at My Awlie in Tsaeda Emba province. The total number of beneficiaries is in the range of 300 individuals; many people living in nearby areas will benefit from these water point as well.
The project consisted of the rehabilitation of the old dry water well, as per local residents request. Completely new pipes to reach an adequate depth, a brand new pump, fencing of the well and training of the Water and Sanitation committee have been secured as well in accordance with running practice. Funds for the implementation of this new water well have been made available by the donors Daniela and Renato Collodoro, promoting water projects in Ethiopia, through the sale of their books and the organization of charity dinners at their Turin restaurants.
