Thousands of students in schools across the Tigray Region have been forced to leave their classrooms for over three years due to the pandemic and the three-year-long war.
The school benches have been stolen by the enemy or burned during the winter seasons by the displaced people living in the schools og the region.
MAY WEYNI school was in a difficult situation, and students were required to sit on stones during lessons. Finally, the Butterfly Foundation and its donors have provided this school with 50 new benches, providing comfortable seating for 150 students (double the capacity in the planned two shifts).
The official opening will take place in February 2026.
