In the frame of the “Make a loving gesture: Donate the water” campaign, promoted by ARCA Group (Cesena), Butterfly foundation on June 5th 2013 inaugurated a water well in the village of Daulehaf, in Dallol district, Afar Region, Ethiopia.
The Region of Afar people, made of 29 districts, is located in the Eastern part of the Country. Dallol district is an old mining site, considered to be one of the hottest places on the earth with an average temperature of 34 C. degrees and includes the well-known depression of Dancalia.
The beneficiaries of this project have been estimated to be in the range of 1.500 people.
The well has been drilled at a depth of approx. 68 meters, is operated by a hand pump and has been duly fenced. A water & sanitation committee has been established and appointed by the municipality for the management and operation of the well.
