The Butterfly Onlus Foundation, in collaboration with the Funima International Associazione onlus and the Fundación Los Niños del Mañana, has backed the establishment of a well, dug at a depth of 53 metres, at El Moreno in the Andes in Argentina, with its own funds.
The project is in aid of the village’s population of 300 inhabitants and of the local canteen dedicated to 110 children. In this area, where temperatures fall to –20°C, the Fundación Los Niños del Mañana founded a canteen in 2004 that welcomes around 110 children daily from neighbouring villages who can finally receive a hot meal and a snack.
Until now, the entire village was using water from a stream that contained a high level of parasitic pollution, particularly during the summer, which provoked serious problems of inflammation of the stomach wall, predominantly in children.
