In the frame of the “Donate the water” project established between Butterfly Foundation and A.D.C.S. (Adigrat Catholic Secretariat), on October 7th t 2013 a water well has been opened in the village of Endacherkos in the “woreda” of Sasietsaeda-emba, where the total population is estimated at about 37,763 of which 16,473 are male and 21,290 are female. 9,135 households reside in the area, of which 42.6% is female-headed households.
The well, drilled at a depth of 55 meters and operated by a hand pump, has been financed by the Italian association Volontari l’Accoglienza based in Caselle (TO)
The total number of beneficiaries of this well is 200 people approx. Several families living in the area will benefit from the opportunity to drink clean water as well.
A water and sanitation committee has been established for the management and operation of the well in accordance with the running procedures”
