Mudgula water well

On February 3rd 2013, a  water well dedicated to Rumen, Daniele’s brother in law, who died in 2011  at the age of 44,  has been drilled in the village of Mugdula. The village belongs to  Kibidaga Municipality, sixty kilometres north of  Adigrat, in the AFAR Region which is one of the poorest areas of the Country.   The beneficiaries, mostly women and children, had no previous access to potable water and were obliged to use the stagnant water out of an open-pit sharing the same with their cattle.

The well has been drilled at the depth of  45 meters and is operated, like all the others,  by a hand pump that assures easy maintenance. Several nomad tribes joined the local people and shared their joy for such an important donation.

The beneficiaries are 400 people living in the village and additional 600 individuals using this well,  due to the severe shortage of potable water all over the area.
