In the frame of the existing cooperation established several years ago among Butterfly foundation, Vo l’A (Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza) and the ADCS, intended to secure potable water to the remote villages in rural areas of the Tigray region, on March 17th 2016 has been opened a rehabilitated water well at My Daero, Gentahafesum woreda, SASUN Tabia, Bethawariat Municipality. The total number of direct beneficiaries are 420 individuals approx. while many people living in nearby areas are obviously benefiting of these water point as well.
The project consisted of the rehabilitation of the old dry water well. New extended pipes to reach an adequate depth, a brand new pump, fencing of the well and training of the Water and Sanitation committee have been secured as well in accordance with running practice. Funds for the implementation of this new water well have been made available by Daniela and Renato Collodoro promoting water projects in Ethiopia, through the sale of their books and the organization of charity dinners at their Turin restaurants.
