For a few years, as part of the “Donate Water” scheme, which has been made possible through the partnership established between Butterfly Charity Foundation, Associazione Volontari l’Accoglienza, based in Caselle (TO) and ADCS, (Catholic Association of Adigrat), several projects water-related, are under progress in Tigray region, North of the country at the border with Eritrea. The above, following the recent severe drought, the worst since over the last 30 years.
A water well, completely dry for a few years, has been rehabilitated at the village of RUBA MEGELE, at Tsaeda Emba district in Tigray region, Ethiopia thanks to the financial support secured by Elena Pizzighello and Mario Zorzetto, Renato Collodoro and Daniela Lippi, Stefania Rustico and Luigi Castagno together with their friends.
The project consisted of the supply of new extended pipes to reach the adequate depth of 62 metres, a brand new pump, the execution of fencing and training of the Water and Sanitation Committee, in accordance with running practice.
The beneficiaries of the project have been estimated to be 380 individuals. The official opening of this rehabilitated well took place on November 12th 2018.
