On February 25th 2009, in the presence of at least a thousand people of the concerned area, a water well, with a hand pump, has been opened at the village of Wora Atle, in the province of Irob, Eastern Tigray, Ethiopia.
The well has been financed by the Italian charity association IL GIRASOLE, based in Chieti, which already supported the implementation of the first water well in the same area in March 2008.
The well has been hand dug at the depth of 38 meters will guarantee pure potable water to some 1200 students and 700 people of the nearby villages.
The concerned area is extremely dry and as rainfall is extremely limited.
