The establishment of a collection system for rainwater from the roof of a school was requested in February 2012 by the teaching staff of Martina’s school in Kafna, in the Tigray region.
The idea was to channel the rainwater into a tank so that the collected water could be used in the dry season for irrigation and hygiene. The Foundation decided to fulfil this project that has been officially opened on October 1st 2012 in spite of the still pending completion of due financing balance.
Thanks to this project the children of the school as well as the teachers will benefit from clean water collected during the rainy season. A special thank to Martina’s parents as well as to the school fellows of the glamorous “D section” of the Scacchi High School in Bari still present with their generosity.
