Mokonissa pregnant women unit

Based on the Government request who recently banned house deliveries all over the Country of Ethiopia, due to several problems mainly related to poor sanitary conditions, Butterfly Foundation, thanks to the financial support of the Gonzato – Salerno family, could manage the construction of a temporary residential unit for the use of pregnant women at the Mokonissa Health centre, Wolayta region, Ethiopia.

Mokonissa pregnant women unit

Based on the Government request who recently banned house deliveries all over the Country of Ethiopia, due to several problems mainly related to poor sanitary conditions, Butterfly Foundation, thanks to the financial support of the Gonzato – Salerno family who already substantially contributed to the construction of Mokonissa Health Center, and Casa Butterfly, in Wolayta region, could manage the construction of a temporary residential unit for the use of the pregnant women that will be accommodated at such a premise before and after the delivery of the baby. The construction is located in the Health Centre compound of Mokonissa, Wolayta Region, Ethiopia. The official opening took place on March 12th 2016.

The building, dedicated to the memory of Messrs. Caravasso-Falletta consists of three rooms to accommodate six women at the time, kitchen, store and toilets facility.

A few hundred people have been attending the opening ceremony and expressed gratitude for the project.
